Work Experience at The Australian Ballet (High School Students Only)

The Australian Ballet believes in creating educational opportunities that both build capacity and nurture the next generation of artists, creatives and specialist within the arts sector. We employ over 300 people working across a range of vocations to maintain our status as a world-class performing arts company.

About the Program

Our Work Experience Program takes place twice a year and is open to secondary school students who are ideally studying in Year 10. The program lasts one week and gives participants a hands-on experience of how The Australian Ballet operates during the hours of 9.30am – 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Participants will meet and work alongside a diverse range of ballet employees from across our corporate, artistic and technical departments. We are one of Australia’s busiest performing arts companies, and the experiences we offer will vary depending on our programming commitments at the time.

Eligibility

To be eligible for our work experience program applicants must be:

  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Reside within the Melbourne Metropolitan area
  • Currently studying in secondary school (ideally in Year 10)
  • Covered with appropriate insurance by the applicant’s school for the duration of the work experience

We schedule two intakes a year, and the exact dates are selected and communicated to applicants based on our capacity.
