Role Highlights:

  • Lead and manage the Production Technology team across all technical disciplines including lighting, audio-visual, sound, and automation.
  • Deliver world-class production technology outcomes across The Australian Ballet’s national and international programs.
  • Drive innovation and ensure best-practice technical solutions while maintaining comprehensive archival systems for faithful remounts.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing the planning, programming, and operation of lighting, AV, sound, and show control systems for all performances and tours.
  • Supporting Lighting and Projection Designers by preparing and maintaining show files, visualisations, and documentation across multiple venues.
  • Managing and maintaining The Australian Ballet’s technical infrastructure, equipment inventory, and performance technology archives.
  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing technical team aligned with company values, ensuring effective rostering, fatigue management, and staff development.
  • Collaborating with the Technical Director and broader Production team to deliver shows on time, within budget, and to artistic expectations.
  • Ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety standards and conducting risk assessments as required.

What experience you’ll need:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in lighting and production technology, including show programming (ETC Eos), AV systems, and stage automation.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and proficiency in Vectorworks, QLab, and production network integration.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor staff and manage complex rostering and scheduling.
  • Strong planning, communication, and documentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate across creative and technical departments.
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in lighting or production technology.
  • A proactive mindset, keen interest in emerging technologies, and commitment to excellence in live performance production
